PROTEIN C RESISTANCE, ACTIVATED (APCR)

Test Code: D227
Specimen Collection: Plasma
Component:
ACPR Resistance
Method:
CLOT DET

Collection Notes: Draw to the proper fill level (do not overfill or underfill) because the correct ratio of blood to citrate is critical (9:1). Mix by gentle inversion 3 – 4 times. Centrifuge for 15 min at 1500 x g within 60 minutes of collection. Remove plasma using a plastic pipette being careful not to disturb the buffy coat. Repeat centrifugation at 1500 x g for 15 minutes to assure complete platelet removal. Dispense the plasma into labeled, screw-top plastic tube(s) using a plastic transfer pipette. Freeze immediately. Stable for 6 months at -20 C. Specimen must remain frozen at all times. Avoid hemolysis.
Do not submit a hemolyzed specimen, or a one having microclots present.

Clinical Utility: APCR is the most commonly observed abnormality among patients with venous thromboembolism.
