Collection Notes: Collect specimen in an additive-free red top tube; centrifuge immediately and pour off serum into a 13x75 plastic transport tube. Specimens that are hemolyzed, grossly lipemic or icteric or collected in a serum separator tube will be rejected.
Clinical Utility: Excessive deoxycorticosterone can produce sodium retention, low-renin hypertension, and kaliuresis.
